An empowered ministry team creates a strong foundation for excellence.
Are you looking for a simple-to-use solution for setting up your volunteers for success? Look no further!
Ministry growth and excellence can be achieved in your children’s ministry. An important part of reaching both goals is adequately onboarding volunteers for ministry. With customization made easy, this intentional onboarding process will equip you to create a successful volunteer culture that will help lead to overall ministry success.
This kit includes ready-to-use tools to set up your volunteers—and ultimately your ministry—for success as we walk through these 5 steps:
- Evaluate & Follow Up
This comprehensive kit gives you a Word document download that includes:
How-To Videos for Each Step
This series of videos will walk you and your leadership team through the 5 steps that will lead to a strong team of passionate, committed, Kingdom-focused volunteers. We’ll unpack the importance of each step and highlight every piece that’s included in the kit.
Recruiting Videos with Scripts
These editable videos will allow you to personalize videos for your ministry. You might choose to use them as they are, add your church’s branding, or reshoot the videos altogether for a personal touch from you.
You’ll be able completely edit the document so you can customize all of the content to fit your ministry—in any season.
Step 1: Prepare
Children’s Ministry Interest Form
Gauge how interested perspective volunteers are in different areas within your ministry. This will show you where their passions are right off the bat.
Job Descriptions for Volunteer Roles
Having job descriptions will not only help you define the needs within your ministry, but it will help you build a solid team—one that knows their role’s purpose and expectations up front.
Volunteer Recruiting Scripts
You can use these scripts to create your own videos or as a guide for making live announcements
Step 2: Seek
Volunteer Interview Guide
This guide will give you talking points to help you lead conversations with potential volunteers who are interested joining your team!
Spiritual Gifts Survey
Use this assessment in conjunction with the Volunteer Interview Guide to help you discern a great place for potential volunteers to start serving.
Step 3: Screen
The application is a form you can have potential volunteers fill out so you can learn all about them and their interests as you also take steps to ensure the safety of your students is protected as you fill your ministry needs.
This form gives your team members an opportunity to confirm their willingness and desire to live out the “Code of Conduct” you establish for your ministry and follow children’s ministry policies and procedures.
Step 4: Train
Volunteer Training Meeting Guide
Here you’ll find ideas for holding a volunteer training meeting—icebreakers, outlines for hands-on training sessions, and suggestions for celebrating volunteers. This will help you be prepared before and as you prepare others!
Prepare volunteers for the requirements and boundaries of your ministry with this handbook. You’ll be able to edit based the specific guidelines your ministry already follows.
Volunteer Training Checklist
Check all the boxes to make sure your volunteers are adequately trained so they’ll be successful in ministry. This will take you through step-by-step for doing just that.
Step 5: Evaluate & Follow Up
90-Day Volunteer Check-In
Use this evaluation form when you check in with new volunteers to get feedback about how they’re feeling about their current role in children’s ministry.
Annual Volunteer Survey
This document will help you make space for follow-up with your volunteers so that you and your team are constantly improving and adjusting as needed. Ministry is never a one and done!
