Ages 4–6: Zacchaeus Gives Generously, Peter Is Sorry, A Jailer Is Kind, Onesimus Does What's Right

Lesson 1: Zacchaeus Gives Generously
Luke 19:1-10—Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, meets Jesus. Jesus shows him love and kindness. Zacchaeus responds by giving half of all he has to the poor. We can follow Jesus by treating others with love and kindness.

Lesson 2: Peter Is Sorry
Luke 22:33, 34, 54-62; John 21:15-17—Peter believes in Jesus, but when Jesus is arrested, Peter is afraid. He denies knowing Jesus. When the rooster crows, Peter realizes what he has done and is very sorry. Later, he tells Jesus he really does love Him. We can follow Jesus by always telling the truth. When we don't tell the truth, we can say we are sorry.

Lesson 3: A Jailer Is Kind
Acts 16:23-34—Following orders, a jailer puts Paul and Silas in chains. When God uses an earthquake to release their chains, the jailer is thankful that they did not run away. He is kind to Paul and Silas and listens as they tell about Jesus. That very night, the jailer and his family repent and experience God's forgiveness. We can follow Jesus by pleasing God.

Lesson 4: Onesimus Does What's Right
Philemon—Onesimus runs away from his Christian owner, Philemon. But when Onesimus meets Paul, he becomes a Christian. Paul sends a letter asking Philemon to forgive Onesimus. Onesimus does what is right and goes back to Philemon. When someone says "I'm sorry," we can forgive him. That's following Jesus.
