Route 52 - Bible People Who Were Helpful
Ages 4–6: A Father Helps His Sick Daughter, Four Friends Help a Sick Man, A Samaritan Helps a Traveler, Tabitha Helps Others
Lesson 1: A Father Helps His Sick Daughter
Mark 5:21-24, 35-43—A young girl is very sick. Her father wants to help her. He asks Jesus to come and heal her. Before Jesus arrives, the girl dies. The power of Jesus' touch brings her back to life.
Lesson 2: Four Friends Help a Sick Man
Mark 2:1-12—Four friends carry their friend who is crippled to a house where Jesus is preaching. They will do anything to help their friend. They remove part of the roof and lower their friend on his bed down through the crowd. Jesus heals their friend. Thank God for friends who help us.
Lesson 3: Jesus Helps His Friends
Mark 4:35-41—Jesus and the disciples travel by boat to the other side of a lake. Jesus falls asleep on the way. His frightened disciples, pleading for His help, awaken Him. Jesus speaks to the wind and waves and they become calm. We can always depend on Jesus to help us.
Lesson 4: A Samaritan Helps a Traveler
Luke 10:25-37—Jesus uses a Samaritan to teach a lesson about neighborly love. In the story, a traveler is robbed and beaten. Two Jewish religious leaders pass right by him. The only one who stopped to help was a Samaritan man. Jesus wants us to help everyone.
Lesson 4: Tabitha Helps Others
Acts 9:36-42—Tabitha is a very willing helper. She uses her talent of sewing to provide clothing for the poor. When she dies, her friends send for Peter. He prays and asks God to bring Tabitha back to life. God's power brings Tabitha back to continue helping others.
